withered like grass. 102:012 But you, Yahweh, will abide forever; your renown endures to all generations. 102:013 You will arise and have mercy on Zion; for it is time to have pity on her. Yes, the set time has come. 102:014 For your servants take pleasure in her stones, and have pity on her dust. 102:015 So the nations will fear the name of Yahweh; all the kings of the earth your glory. 102:016 For Yahweh has built up Zion. He has appeared in his glory. 102:017 He has responded to the prayer of the destitute, and has not despised their prayer. 102:018 This will be written for the generation to come. A people which will be created will praise Yah. 102:019 For he has looked down from the height of his sanctuary. From heaven, Yahweh saw the earth; 102:020 to hear the groans of the prisoner; to free those who are condemned to death; 102:021 that men may declare the name of Yahweh in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem; 102:022 when the peoples are gathered together, the kingdoms, to serve Yahweh. 102:023 He weakened my strength along the course. He shortened my days. 102:024 I said, "My God, don't take me away in the midst of my days. Your years are throughout all generations. 102:025 Of old, you laid the foundation of the earth. The heavens are the work of your hands. 102:026 They will perish, but you will endure. Yes, all of them will wear out like a garment. You will change them like a cloak, and they will be changed. 102:027 But you are the same. Your years will have no end. 102:028 The children of your servants will continue. All that is within me, praise his holy name! 103:002 Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don't forget all his benefits; 103:003 who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases; 103:004 who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies; 103:005 who satisfies your desire with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. 103:006 Yahweh executes righteous acts, and justice for all who are oppressed. 103:007 He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the children of Israel. 103:008 Yahweh is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness. 103:009 He will not always accuse; neither will he stay angry forever. 103:010 He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor repaid us for our iniquities. 103:011 For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his loving kindness toward those who fear him. 103:012 As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. 103:013 Like a father has compassion on his children, so Yahweh has compassion on those who fear him. 103:014 For he knows how we are made. He remembers that we are dust. 103:015 As for man, his days are like grass. As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. 103:016 For the wind passes over it, and it is gone. Its place remembers it no more. 103:017 But Yahweh's loving kindness is from everlasting to everlasting with those who fear him, his righteousness to children's children; 103:018 to those who keep his covenant, to those who remember to obey his precepts. 103:019 Yahweh has established his throne in the heavens. The stork makes its home in the fir trees. 104:018 The high mountains are for the wild goats. The rocks are a refuge for the rock badgers. 104:019 He appointed the moon for seasons. The sun knows when to set. 104:020 You make darkness, and it is night, in which all the animals of the forest prowl. 104:021 The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from God. 104:022 The sun rises, and they steal away, and lay down in their dens. 104:023 Man goes forth to his work, to his labor until the evening. 104:024 Yahweh, how many are your works! In wisdom have you made them all. The earth is full of your riches. 104:025 There is the sea, great and wide, in which are innumerable living things, both small and large animals. 104:026 There the ships go, and leviathan, whom you formed to play there. 104:027 These all wait for you, that you may give them their food in due season. 104:028 You give to them; they gather. You open your hand; they are satisfied with good. 104:029 You hide your face: they are troubled; you take away their breath: they die, and return to the dust. 104:030 You send forth your Spirit: they are created. His neck was locked in irons, 105:019 until the time that his word happened, and Yahweh's word proved him true. 105:020 The king sent and freed him; even the ruler of peoples, and let him go free. 105:021 He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all of his possessions; 105:022 to discipline his princes at his pleasure, and to teach his elders wisdom. 105:023 Israel also came into Egypt. Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham. 105:024 He increased his people greatly, and made them stronger than their adversaries. 105:025 He turned their heart to hate his people, to conspire against his servants. 105:026 He sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen. 105:027 They performed miracles among them, and wonders in the land of Ham. 105:028 He sent darkness, and made it dark. They didn't rebel against his words. 105:029 He turned their waters into blood, and killed their fish. 105:030 Their land swarmed with frogs, even in the chambers of their kings. 105:031 He spoke, and swarms of flies came, and lice in all their borders. 105:032 He gave them hail for rain, with lightning in their land. 105:033 He struck their vines and also their fig trees, and shattered the trees of their country. 105:034 He spoke, and the locusts came, and the grasshoppers, without number, 105:035 ate up every plant in their land; and ate up the fruit of their ground. 105:036 He struck also all the firstborn in their land, the first fruits of all their manhood. 105:037 He brought them forth with silver and gold. Blessed is one who does what is right at all times. 106:004 Remember me, Yahweh, with the favor that you show to your people. Visit me with your salvation, 106:005 that I may see the prosperity of your chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that I may glory with your inheritance. 106:006 We have sinned with our fathers. We have committed iniquity. We have done wickedly. 106:007 Our fathers didn't understand your wonders in Egypt. They didn't wait for his counsel, 106:014 but gave in to craving in the desert, and tested God in the wasteland. 106:015 He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul. 106:016 They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron, Yahweh's saint. 106:017 The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram. 106:018 A fire was kindled in their company. The flame burned up the wicked. 106:019 They made a calf in Horeb, and worshiped a molten image. 106:020 Thus they exchanged their glory for an image of a bull that eats grass. 106:021 They forgot God, their Savior, who had done great things in Egypt, 106:022 Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and awesome things by the Red Sea{or, Sea of Reeds}. 106:023 Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had Moses, his chosen, not stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, so that he wouldn't destroy them. 106:024 Yes, they despised the pleasant land. They didn't believe his word, 106:025 but murmured in their tents, and didn't listen to Yahweh's voice. 106:026 Therefore he swore to them that he would overthrow them in the wilderness, 106:027 that he would overthrow their seed among the nations, and scatter them in the lands. 106:028 They joined themselves also to Baal Peor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead. 106:029 Thus they provoked him to anger with their deeds. The plague broke in on them. 106:030 Then Phinehas stood up, and executed judgment, so the plague was stopped. 106:031 That was credited to him for righteousness, for all generations to come. 106:032 They angered him also at the waters of Meribah, so that Moses was troubled for their sakes; 106:033 because they were rebellious against his spirit, he spoke rashly with his lips. 106:034 They didn't destroy the peoples, as Yahweh commanded them, 106:035 but mixed themselves with the nations, and learned their works. 106:036 They served their idols, which became a snare to them. 106:037 Yes, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons. 106:038 They shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan. The land was polluted with blood. 106:039 Thus were they defiled with their works, and prostituted themselves in their deeds. 106:040 Therefore Yahweh burned with anger against his people. He abhorred his inheritance. 106:041 He gave them into the hand of the nations. Those who hated them ruled over them. 106:042 Their enemies also oppressed them. They were brought into subjection under their hand. 106:043 Many times he delivered them, but they were rebellious in their counsel, and were brought low in their iniquity. 106:044 Nevertheless he regarded their distress, when he heard their cry. 106:045 He remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses. 106:046 He made them also to be pitied by all those who carried them captive. 106:047 Save us, Yahweh, our God, gather us from among the nations, to give thanks to your holy name, to triumph in your praise! 106:048 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from everlasting even to everlasting! Their soul melts away because of trouble. 107:027 They reel back and forth, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end. 107:028 Then they cry to Yahweh in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distress. 107:029 He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still. 107:030 Then they are glad because it is calm, so he brings them to their desired haven. 107:031 Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness, for his wonderful works for the children of men! 107:032 Let them exalt him also in the assembly of the people, and praise him in the seat of the elders. 107:033 He turns rivers into a desert, water springs into a thirsty ground, 107:034 and a fruitful land into a salt waste, for the wickedness of those who dwell in it. 107:035 He turns a desert into a pool of water, and a dry land into water springs. 107:036 There he makes the hungry live, that they may prepare a city to live in, 107:037 sow fields, plant vineyards, and reap the fruits of increase. 107:038 He blesses them also, so that they are multiplied greatly. You give them their food in due season. 145:016 You open your hand, and satisfy the desire of every living thing. 145:017 Yahweh is righteous in all his ways, and gracious in all his works. 145:018 Yahweh is near to all those who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. 145:019 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear him. He also will hear their cry, and will save them. 145:020 Yahweh preserves all those who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. 145:021 My mouth will speak the praise of Yahweh. Let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever. 146:001 Praise Yah! Praise Yahweh, my soul. 146:002 While I live, I will praise Yahweh. I will sing praises to my God as long as I exist. 146:003 Don't put your trust in princes, each a son of man in whom there is no help. 146:004 His spirit departs, and he returns to the earth. He calls them all by their names. 147:005 Great is our Lord, and mighty in power. His understanding is infinite. 147:006 Yahweh upholds the humble. Book 20 Proverbs 001:001 The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel: 001:002 to know wisdom and instruction; to discern the words of understanding; 001:003 to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; 001:004 to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young man: 001:005 that the wise man may hear, and increase in learning; that the man of understanding may attain to sound counsel: 001:006 to understand a proverb, and parables, the words and riddles of the wise. 001:007 The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge; but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction. 001:008 My son, listen to your father's instruction, and don't forsake your mother's teaching: 001:009 for they will be a garland to grace your head, and chains around your neck. 001:010 My son, if sinners entice you, don't consent. 001:011 If they say, "Come with us, Let's lay in wait for blood; let's lurk secretly for the innocent without cause; 001:012 let's swallow them up alive like Sheol, and whole, like those who go down into the pit. 001:013 We'll find all valuable wealth. We'll fill our houses with spoil. 001:014 You shall cast your lot among us. We'll all have one purse." 001:015 My son, don't walk in the way with them. Keep your foot from their path, 001:016 for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood. 001:017 For in vain is the net spread in the sight of any bird: 001:018 but these lay wait for their own blood. They lurk secretly for their own lives. 001:019 So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain. It takes away the life of its owners. 001:020 Wisdom calls aloud in the street. She utters her voice in the public squares. 001:021 She calls at the head of noisy places. At the entrance of the city gates, she utters her words: 001:022 "How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? How long will mockers delight themselves in mockery, and fools hate knowledge? 001:023 Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you. I will make known my words to you. 001:024 Because I have called, and you have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention; 001:025 but you have ignored all my counsel, and wanted none of my reproof; 001:026 I also will laugh at your disaster. I will mock when calamity overtakes you; 001:027 when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind; when distress and anguish come on you. 001:028 Then will they call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me; 001:029 because they hated knowledge, and didn't choose the fear of Yahweh. 001:030 They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof. 001:031 Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own schemes. 001:032 For the backsliding of the simple will kill them. The careless ease of fools will destroy them. 001:033 But whoever listens to me will dwell securely, and will be at ease, without fear of harm." 002:001 My son, if you will receive my words, and store up my commandments within you; 002:002 So as to turn your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; 002:003 Yes, if you call out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding; 002:004 If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures: 002:005 then you will understand the fear of Yahweh, and find the knowledge of God. 002:006 For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. 002:007 He lays up sound wisdom for the upright. He is a shield to those who walk in integrity; 002:008 that he may guard the paths of justice, and preserve the way of his saints. 002:009 Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path. 002:010 For wisdom will enter into your heart. Knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. 002:011 Discretion will watch over you. Understanding will keep you, 002:012 to deliver you from the way of evil, from the men who speak perverse things; 002:013 who forsake the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness; 002:014 who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the perverseness of evil; 002:015 who are crooked in their ways, and wayward in their paths: 002:016 To deliver you from the strange woman, even from the foreigner who flatters with her words; 002:017 who forsakes the friend of her youth, and forgets the covenant of her God: 002:018 for her house leads down to death, her paths to the dead. 002:019 None who go to her return again, neither do they attain to the paths of life: 002:020 that you may walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous. 002:021 For the upright will dwell in the land. The perfect will remain in it. 002:022 But the wicked will be cut off from the land. The treacherous will be rooted out of it. 003:001 My son, don't forget my teaching; but let your heart keep my commandments: 003:002 for length of days, and years of life, and peace, will they add to you. 003:003 Don't let kindness and truth forsake you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart. 003:004 So you will find favor, and good understanding in the sight of God and man. 003:005 Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. 003:006 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. 003:007 Don't be wise in your own eyes. Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil. 003:008 It will be health to your body, and nourishment to your bones. 003:009 Honor Yahweh with your substance, with the first fruits of all your increase: 003:010 so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine. 003:011 My son, don't despise Yahweh's discipline, neither be weary of his reproof: 003:012 for whom Yahweh loves, he reproves; even as a father reproves the son in whom he delights. 003:013 Happy is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding. 003:014 For her good profit is better than getting silver, and her return is better than fine gold. 003:015 She is more precious than rubies. None of the things you can desire are to be compared to her. 003:016 Length of days is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honor. 003:017 Her ways are ways of pleasantness. All her paths are peace. 003:018 She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her. Happy is everyone who retains her. 003:019 By wisdom Yahweh founded the earth. Choose none of his ways. 003:032 For the perverse is an abomination to Yahweh, but his friendship is with the upright. 003:033 Yahweh's curse is in the house of the wicked, but he blesses the habitation of the righteous. 003:034 Surely he mocks the mockers, but he gives grace to the humble. 003:035 The wise will inherit glory, but shame will be the promotion of fools. 004:001 Listen, sons, to a father's instruction. Pay attention and know understanding; 004:002 for I give you sound learning. Don't forsake my law. 004:003 For I was a son to my father, tender and an only child in the sight of my mother. 004:004 He taught me, and said to me: "Let your heart retain my words. Keep my commandments, and live. 004:005 Get wisdom. Get understanding. Don't forget, neither swerve from the words of my mouth. 004:006 Don't forsake her, and she will preserve you. Love her, and she will keep you. 004:007 Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding. 004:008 Esteem her, and she will exalt you. She will bring you to honor, when you embrace her. 004:009 She will give to your head a garland of grace. She will deliver a crown of splendor to you." 004:010 Listen, my son, and receive my sayings. The years of your life will be many. 004:011 I have taught you in the way of wisdom. I have led you in straight paths. 004:012 When you go, your steps will not be hampered. When you run, you will not stumble. 004:013 Take firm hold of instruction. Don't let her go. Keep her, for she is your life. 004:014 Don't enter into the path of the wicked. Don't walk in the way of evil men. 004:015 Avoid it, and don't pass by it. Turn from it, and pass on. 004:016 For they don't sleep, unless they do evil. Their sleep is taken away, unless they make someone fall. 004:017 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence. 004:018 But the path of the righteous is like the dawning light, that shines more and more until the perfect day. 004:019 The way of the wicked is like darkness. They don't know what they stumble over. 004:020 My son, attend to my words. Turn your ear to my sayings. 004:021 Let them not depart from your eyes. Keep them in the midst of your heart. 004:022 For they are life to those who find them, and health to their whole body. 004:023 Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life. 004:024 Put away from yourself a perverse mouth.
